APD refund for children

We've booked a ticket with Netflights and they have not provided a breakdown of taxes for each passenger even after asking twice. They've asked us to work out the taxes cost by dividing the total price with the number of passengers.

(this is what is says on the child ticket GBP 41.65UB 28.00TU 173.50XT - what does it mean?

How do i know what is the APD part of the taxes for each passenger? we are flying from London to Kenya.

Is it best to ask Netflights to provide the refund or do I have to ask the airline to process the refund?

with thanks in advance...

When did you make the booking? If it's recent then it may not include APD anyway.
  • We made the booking mid Feb this year. I still think the company should provide with the breakdown of the cost on the taxes so that we know what we've paid for.

    thanks
  • You first need to establish you've actually paid the APD.

What does it say on your adult ticket?

Each airline deals with APD refunds in different ways. Which airline. How old are your children when you fly?

XT tends to be "mixture of other taxes"
UK APD shows as GB for a tax but it may be included in the XT, you will need to compare it to the Adult breakdown or run through ITAMatrix and see what the total taxes are for an adult
  • this is what it states on the adult ticket

    GBP 73.00GB 41.65UB 201.50XT

we fly with kenya airways and child will be 11 at time of departure and arrival.

thanks for the tip to look on ita matrix - that clearly shows the tax breakdown - if only the travel agents would do the same!

this breakdown shows that the child APD was not paid
Difference between adult and child ticket prices is £73 which is the APD amount, as seen in the Adult breakdown as a GB tax

The APD for under 12s for abolished 1st May 2015 (it is the 12-16s that was a recent change)
