Online pending transaction - problem

Hi,

I tried to checkout with an online store this morning, and the payment went through with them (by the looks of it). However, my order didn't appear in my order history. So I called them up.

I could see a pending transaction from the site on my online banking account.

When I spoke to them, they told me my card had been declined and wasn't authorised. They asked for my CVV again. I declined to give this over the phone (me being on my guard). I then asked if they would cancel the order, which they said they would.

I checked my account again, and that order (along with other purchases from over the weekend) were no longer in my pending transactions (and nowhere to be seen online).

I called my bank, and they said they could see the pending transactions were being held by the bank, for the retailers to take. However, my "money available" is less than my "balance".

Does everything sound normal here? Have I just got to wait for a refund, or have I been conned?

    Hello there.

It's perfectly normal for the 'funds' to be earmarked for payment and I'd expect the balance to refresh itself by tomorrow morning for the transactions carried out over the Bank Holiday weekend.

In terms of the cancelled order I'd expect it could take up to seven working days (and possibly slightly longer) to see the "refund" back in your current account.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.
