Expedia - Choosing flight seats and split payment

Hi, I've checked out booking flights and hotel separately as well as together and I generally find booking together a tiny bit cheaper with expedia with the added bonus of collecting 1k nectar points.
When booking separately, there is the option of paying more to choose your plane seat. This option does not appear in expedia, or does it?
Also, I remember years ago when I booked to holiday with my then partner there was the option of each of us paying half. Has this function disappeared?

it depends on the airline. Expedia should issue you an airline reference number which you can then use to log in, book seats, bags etc0
