Please help with council tax! So confused!

Hope this is in right section I went for 'budgeting' as I am trying to sort out a bit of a budget for when me and my partner buy a home together.

So currently I live with my parents and my partner lives alone in a private rent. We are currently saving up to buy our first home together.

His council tax bill for the year is as follows:

Charge for band A: £935.15
Less
Single Person Discount: £233.79
Council Tax Support: £641.74

Amount Due for year: £59.62

Obviously when we buy a house he will loose the single person discount... my question is over the council tax support, he receive's this as he is on indefinite DLA higher rates for both components and also he is on ESA so I believe the support element is due to the fact he is disabled and on a low income. I work full time, and I am on a salary of just under 18k a year. I have asked a few people for advice and got a few different answers as follows, if anyone could confirm what is likely to happen that would be great so that I know how much to factor in for council tax costs when working out our monthly budget,

- No discounts at all and will be a combined council tax bill for the both of us of the full amount of £935.15 for the year
- We will have two council tax bills - one for me without the discount applied & one for my partner with a discount applied.
- One council tax bill with a discount applied for one person living in the house being disabled.

Any help would be great as I have tried looking online and I struggled to find an answer.

The household income will be taken into consideration when you move in, based on your earnings the full amount will become payable.

Council Tax Support is Council Tax Benefit, his low wage passports entitlement as it is means tested.

I highly doubt any disability premiums to protect him will apply when a 18K salary becomes part of the household. But councils can apply discretionary things, which again with your 18K they wont, discretionary is for the most needy.

£936 for a year is cheap so you can be thankful ;)
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Don't forget that Council Tax is charged at different rates according to the Band
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

As your key question is about the continuation of CT Benefit you would probably be better placed asking it on the Benefits board. Alternatives to this board (which is really not the right place) would also be the Housing board or the Cutting Tax board, but pick one rather than post in lots of places.

You will only get one council tax bill, not two.
Your partner will obviously lose the single person discount.

It looks as though your Council tax will be assessed on the total household income ie your earnings, any benefit income but not DLA as that is not included.
There may be a discount to be applied because of the disability element, but I am not sure about that bit without further information.
If the property has had adaptations for disability eg wide doors to make it accessible for a wheelchair, then your bill may be calculated as if you are on a lower band. If the property is already band A, a further discount may be applied.
However, support for Council Tax is applied locally, not nationally, so may vary according to the area you live in. Have a look at the website for your local council to see what it says about council tax support. It is no longer called council tax benefit.

And of course council tax support policies vary hugely across the country. The OP needs to check their local councils scheme to determine how they might be affected.

Generally true, but the ESA premium (WRAG/Support) protections and DLA exclusions that are protected as non income are overshadowed by a 18K wage in the property.

Changes in the property will give a little leeway for disability. And yes local authorities differ in England as does CTB - we haven't changed the name to hide what it is for Tory smoke and mirrors, ESA/PiP etc, up north it is a benefit as it has always been in name Council Tax Benefit :)
