Good Morning Folks

Can someone suggest the various methods of scanning and sharing documents such as receipts, invoices, and bank statements?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Scan with a scanner or take a photo. Save scan/photo to disk.
Share with email or any of umpteen cloud services e.g. Dropbox.

Who are you going to share your bank statements and receipts with?

All smartphones have a camera and as soon as you take a picture you have 'share' option available.
  • If you have a smart phone then Install an app called camscanner and turn your smartphone in to a scanner. Take pictures from your mobile camera and share it with your friends.

There are some 'scanner' apps for smartphones, better than taking just a photo as the files are smaller and you can usually correct geometry from taking shots at a bit of an angle, reduce the colours to mono, etc. Microsoft have a free one for Android which is very good, there are others.

I use an earlier model of this flatbed scanner. It has a .pdf button and the software supplied will convert any scanned document on the fly into a .pdf file which is pretty much a universal sharing format these days. Great for scanning and storing photos too.

One of these three should do what you want - Camscanner, Microsoft Onenote, Evernote
  • On the scanning side it depends what the OP want to do...as ever we only get a vague idea of the requirements and the size/scale.

If they are in to scanning thousands of documents and want to go totally paperless plus scan and archive old files then they need a proper dedicated fast document feeder/scanner.
Fujitsu IX500 Scansnap being one of the best known.
You also need meticulous organisation in how you file and name on the PC stuff scanned in if you are going to do this on a mega scale plus keep a lot of backups
  • I use Dropbox, as does my step-dad and all his senior management in his work.

I found it to be very simple to work either on my work laptop, phone or on someone elses computer. My tuppence worth.
