The majority of people either understood what was going on and that they weren't going to have their cake and eat it, or if they didn't understand, they understood the onus was on them to find out, by getting on the Internet or the phone or speaking to someone more knowledgeable, until they did.
Trouble is .... lets just take your premise. Now those that are responsible got on the blower to ascertain the correct status. One significant means to that was to get a pension statement.
Now, when those pension statements were delivered, they created more confusion and had to be altered, not once but twice ... up to now.
If the majority understood them and there was just a few loudmouths then said pension statements would not have been redesigned.Malthusian wrote: »It is only a minority, albeit a very vocal one, who believe that they have no responsibility to understand how the system works, and if they get the wrong idea it's the taxpayer's responsibility to make their wrong idea into a reality.
Nope - its the responsibility of those in charge to get the correct information out. No different to how you might expect your gas bill information to be correct etc.0 -
so have I, wonderful facility isn't it
hmm ... could you do me a favour and check your ignore list .... I'm not sure it is working .... see post 39!!
Not that I want to put you to any trouble or anything ... I'm sure your a terribly busy body, nonetheless, I'd be awfully obliged if you could rectify it, seeing as it does not appear to be working correctly .... gracious ... :cool:0 -
Lets face it, the Government could have extolled the virtues and the pitfalls of the new State Pension until they were blue in the face back in 2011/12. They could have paid millions for TV announcements, posted it on huge bill boards.....
I would be willing to bet there would still be a majority who would not care to listen, to take it in, have any interest...UNTIL the moment it starts (wind froward to March 2016) and some of them (aided and abetted by certain parts of the media) would be the ones to cry foul, "i wasn't told"....."where's my money wots due to me", "why am I paying more NI", "Its a disgrace" etc etc etc.....
