What to do with all these routers?

Some routers can be used as a separate gateway with a different DNS than your main one - apparently you daisy chain it onto your existing standard router.
e.g.
https://thevpn.guru/how-to-setup-watch-uk-channels-outside-abroad-vpn-dns-proxy
I have an old Netgear wpn824 and was wondering if it could be used for this sort of thing, purely for proof of concept of course...0
