The soultion would be to sack the planning committies and let the builders build enough housing to meet the demand. Government intervention in the housing market is the problem, not the solution. They restrict the supply of housing through the world's most onerous planning system. Then they increase the demand by throwing taxpayers money at schemes like their so called 'Help to Buy'.
