Unable to get credit?!

Options
I turnt 18 in January and tried getting a mobile contract but got declined. I checked my credit score and it was poor, I have never had credit before but I'm unable to get credit so I don't know how to boost it, I am also on the electrol roll. Any advice please?!

Try for a sub prime credit card and use that responsibly for at least 6 months.

You could try Barclaycard initial that was the first card I took out when I turned 18.

Buy a 30 day sim and a single free phone with cash.

Your score is of no relevance as far as lenders care.

    Seems they are:
I am also on the electrol roll.
  • Yes I am on the electrol roll. I don't really want to get out a sim as my dad got me a contract in his name, but if this will increase it then I might just do that

Your credit score isn't seen by lenders, it's the history they see. Get a credit card and pay it off in full each month. Use your account well, don't go overdrawn, only spend what you have.

I only mentioned a sim only deal as you mentioned about a phone contract.

How far are you into the contract ?

You might have to stick with it if your so far into the contract.
