Bank Statements but not for charges

I read the posts regarding charges for statements ie ask for the £10 statutory access etc and ask for the charges not statements. Mine is slightly different.
HMRC have missed off 4 yrs worth of NI contributions for my husband. When they "found" them they sent a list of how much NI he had paid per annum. Turns out they are saying he earned approx £5,000 oer annum when in fact it was over £50k (they've probably put decimal point in wrong place wouldn't surprise me as their left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing!)
This also impacts on the NI rebate due to our private pension provider. Need to prove how much he was paid but no SA/Wage slips etc as just discovered them missing when we got a pension statement and years were wrong. I thought if I could get our bank statements it wld show his weekly wage going in and work back NI/Tax etc. These are old old statements from 2002-2006 but they have got them archived.
So my question is can I ask for statements for this period using the SAR method or will i have to pay the full whack (and if proved correct can I ask HMRC for the cost to be refunded!!! :rotfl:)

You might be better asking the employer for archived year end (P60 etc) payroll details, if they still have them.

You can get full transaction listings from the bank using Subject Access Request but HMRC might not accept them as evidence of income as they're not proper statements.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
