Bathroom sealant - mouldy

I sealed up around the mixer shower taps in my house using some Dow Corning bathroom sealant a couple years ago. Still white to this day.
My mother got some in. Same product but she bought clear by mistake, but she wasn't bothered too much & decided to go with it since she'd bought it.
I sealed up for her around her bath where the bath meets the tiles. This was done last year - so AFTER i did my own bathroom.
There's a fair section that is now mouldy as hell.
Why is this? Surely you don't just keep re-applying this stuff every 6 months? I haven't needed to.

I wonder if Mum doesn't air her bathroom as thoroughly as you after bathing?
I always get this with tenanted properties, no matter how many times I tell them to open a window.0 -
The short answer is that it's probably not properly sealed, though water ingress itself may be behind the tiles rather than silicone itself. Or perhaps water pools in that region. I'd do a little more investigation of where the water is coming from. Resolve that, then remove the old silicone and reseal."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0

Was it the same sealant 785 ?
If your mum leaves the sealant wet then it will go mouldy over timeI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Tip when applying silicone to baths, trays etc. After cleaning surface prior to application, remove cleaning residue with metholated spirit prior to applying silicone.0

And don't lick your finger to smooth it

Haha yeah i didn't do the licky finger thing

Neither of us has vents, although i insist on our window being wide open when the shower is on & also left open for a little while afterwards. I don't think my mother does that.
I have a Karcher window vac & after a shower i run down the walls with this. I'm pretty sure my mother does the same. She tries to tell my brother & sister to do it also but i'm not 100% they do, especially my brother.
785 rings a bell so yeah it'd be that.0
