Suggest you try Sandbach. Good secondary schools, good links via bus, train and car, adequate shopping facilities, and loads of new build properties.
Down side - bit of a "rush hour" into and out of Crewe but by city standards it's not that bad.

Lived in Wistaston and moved to Stapeley due to excellent academy school.
Love Stapeley as excellent local Co-op, pub, Chinese and easy walk to town centre and train station.
Good range of houses, We live in 4 bed detached with double garage worth £300K
You will find 3/4 bed houses for £250K
Nantwich is a fantastic town Jazz fest this weekend, Food and drink festival, farmers market, local indoor market, good nightlife, lots of coffee shops but No McDonald's

No doubting the schools and the houses that are there...but they are all very hemmed in! We saw a really good 5 bed for £290k (over priced at the sense the same house down the road was £270k without as many disadvantages).

Someone also said the same at work today. May consider having a look there too.

It's such a hard thing to do! Pressure is on too as we accepted an offer on ours today.
  • Hi, take a look at the Wistaston Community Council website to get a feel for the village. Many village events throughout the year.... Summer Fete, fireworks display, duck race, children's model boat race, Quiz, Flower and produce show, Tennis club, bowls, cricket,...

    Ok...they didn't work out...

Anyone got any opinions on Ettiley Heath (west Sandbach)?

There's a few developments near there (namely http://www.persimmonhomes.com/elworth-park-10021) so any opinions (if any!!!) would be greatly appreciated.

Have you looked at Betley & Wrinehill & Madeley. All in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, but Crewe postcodes & not too far away.
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!

In my opinion living in Ettily Heath means you need a car or other transport to get into Sandbach or even to any shops at all. There is lots of new-build going on around Sandbach some of which is quite a distance from any facilities. There is new development underway on Middlewich Road, Sandbach (not sure of the developer) and a Taylor Wimpey development on Congleton Road. Both of these would be better options in my opinion.

£40k more for a VERY similar house for the TW development.

Point taken. At the end of the day it's back to location and what you can afford/want to pay :-)
