New Windows 8 laptop. Installed iTunes 12. Help needed please.

Hi all you lovely and clever people.

I have recently bought a new laptop and chose one with Win 8.1 over Win 10, tho i've the option to upgrade if I want. I still have my old laptop using Vista, but it is slowly giving up, hence the new laptop. I've yet to use the laptop properly and thought I'd start with installing iTunes. I have the old iTunes 10 on my laptop, but it has installed the new iTunes 12 and I know find I only have the music bought via iTunes and not anything added from CD"s. I've searched for answers but I can't make out what I am meant to do to get it all back, so my question is, please can someone help me with simple instructions? Also I've read on here about iTunes losing your iPod, so if it doesn't recognise mine when and if I sort out this problem, then I may need help with that too. Thanks in advance 😄

You just need to copy your iTunes library from the old laptop to the new one.

    See: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204318

Once you're happy the library on the new one matches the one on the old computer, plug-in iPod to new computer and continue at the warning that says it'll erase the iPod and copy the new library with fingers crossed.

P.S. you'll likely need a large USB memory stick or external Hard Drive, depending on how much music you have to transfer.

Thanks. Just reading this and trying to make sense of it. I am transferring from one windows laptop to another and these instructions seem to menation win to Mac. Maybe I need to look at this tomorrow. I have an ext hd. I haven't used it in ages, hope it still works. I'll update the content from my hard drive on old laptops and try and transfer to new one! I've more music on my old laptop hD than I've put into it. I just want to be able to access it!
