There's actually nothing to stop you having both, if you could be bothered with messing about to meet the funding requirements. I do. :D

Cheeky addition to previous post. I wonder if I would qualify for a further £40 by going through quidco again this time with the premier direct? I got it for the premier.
Doesn't say wether its for new account holders only but I doubt it would be paid.
I seem to have got an extra £20 showing on Quidco which appears to be from opening the Direct Saver account a couple of weeks after the Premier account. This is strange as there is no incentive listed on Quidco for opening this account. I'll see if it is paid in a couple of months time.

Well, let me put it this way: what do you have to lose by trying? You won't qualify for refer-a-friend because that offer covers both P and PD, but the Quidco offers are specific.
  • I'd have to say "yes", as I've got one!/quote]

I'd have to say no, as I've got 2!!!

A&L online banking is rubbish. The account balance and the available balance never tie up. Which leads to problems of being charged for taking out or spending money that the online baking says is available but apparently sends you overdrawn!! Then when you phone up to complain they never listen to you. Apparently at the moment they cannot talk about refunding charges whilst this test case is going on, but they sure as hell don't mind taking the charges!!!!

If, as you say, the funds were mistakenly showing as available to you at the time you took out the money, and you were later charged because those funds were in fact not available at the time you took out the money, then the legal test case has nothing to do with it. The legal test case is about whether correctly-applied charges are unlawful; you are claiming your charges were made owing to an error on their part.

Of course, without knowing the details it's hard for anyone to say what actually happened in a situation like this.
  • I wish I could thank Jimbo twice!

I've moved from A&L to Nationwide, mainly due to the crap online banking at A&L. The telephone banking isn't much good either - they've messed up the only instructions I've given them over the phone too! The statements aren't very good either, they don't give full information on what the transactions are, just say things like 'bank transfer' don't say which account the money goes to (this is transfers between A&L current and savings accounts) which can make it much harder to work out.

I also had problems with regular payments between the current and savings accounts. You can't set them up online, only by phone and they also don't show in the lists of so / dds. I thought I'd cancelled all the scheduled payments from one account as I was closing it, but got caught out by two transfers to A&L savings accounts (that don't show in the list of payments you can view online). I've ended up being charged £75 and they won't discuss it until after the test case
