Hidden form Electoral Role, Security

Hi Everyone,

I know its all so important for reasons of credit scoring we are all on the Open Register, for the the Electoral Role. If not we can't really get credit.

But what about those of us that have to be hidden? for reasons of safety of life and property?

Rather unfair to attack myself and partner on that basis?

And when I say hidden, this is anonymous hidden; usually not even the courts and etc can call this information up either.

Also what about our credit reports, we have to ensure people can't locate use by preforming any form of trace what can we do there?

Thanks,

Really could do with the help.

I'm on the hidden register and it appears on my credit report. I believe the credit agencies have access to the closed register so it doesn't matter
  • Sorry I should state we havn't chosen to be off the open register, we are hidden by order this is 3rd option that isn't made all that aviable.

    As stated:

"If you are registered anonymously, your name and address will not
appear on the electoral register, and you will not be included on any
registration forms sent to your address. Instead, a code will be added
to the end of the section of the register for your polling district and the
Electoral Registration Officer will contact you separately and in such
a way as to not reveal that you are registered anonymously"

This sort of registration is only approved by Courts, High Rank Police/Social Services Officers and the Secret Intelligence Service.

I know we don't appear on the electoral role at all, and nor does it show on any credit files with the big 3.

We are in the same position. We are fortunate in that we do not need a Credit Rating, but it took many years to get to that point.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
  • Ah, so in your experience there is no where for this to be compensated?

Rather unfair on those requiring any protection at all. Would like to sort a mortage soon, but there seems to be a big hit on the fact we arn't present on the eletrol role to agencies.

I fail to see a way around it. If you cannot be identified then there can be no credit record
This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com
  • Shows a flaw in the fact that credit reports or the electoral role can not be trusted, to keep your details private from those that may want to obtain them.

Especially since I can see Trace's by PI firms, most likely for the individuals that may cause harm.

Actually, the full register can be viewed by anyone (in person), but purchasing copies of it, is limited to certain organisations.

The only way to compensate not being on the electoral role then is to add a notice of correction which states you can provide proof of residency upon request and state you are not on electoral roll.

Then what happens everytime you apply for credit instead of an instant accept or decline you get a referal and if the company would have accepted you if you were on the electoral role they will just ask you to provide proof of residency and then accept you.

Proof can be energy bills bank statements with address on I think

Privacy comes at a cost. You cannot be anonymous and then expect to be given preferential treatment when applying for credit. .
