Help with Fridge Freezer price change

Hi All,

not posted here in a while but here goes...

On the 20/3/16 I bought a Samsung Fridge Freezer for £499 from Currys. I checked back on the site today and it's £339. I phoned them up but all they said to me is that I can return the fridge within 14 days if unused and get a new one...

I can't price match as Argos, AO.com have 1 letter different in the model number :(

Is there anything I can do besides trying to return this fridge and get a new one?

Thanks in advance

I'd phone them again, tell them it's unused and ask them to collect it & you'll order another one at £339 in the meantime.

As an alternative, you're willing to keep the one you've got and save them the hassle of collecting it if they refund you the difference.

If you have used the fridge then there is nothing you can do. I'm sure if when you checked the price had gone up you would not be ringing them up to pay the extra, so why do you think they so be so keen to do an after sale refund?

As with holidays, never go back and look at the prices after committing yourself because they do change.

Its just one of those sods law moments, there is no obligation to offering you money back...

My advise unless you want to go through the hassle of returning it, just suck it up and enjoy your new fridge.

Fair comment, I totally forgot about being Easter weekend and crazy deals coming after purchasing last week.

I called customer services as a last resort the guy said I have 14 days to return unused and order a new one at the new price. Then I tried to get them to price match to the exact same fridge at AO and Argos but the SKU's have 1 letter difference despite being identical fridges (tricks of retailers to nullify price matches) and so i'm probably going to bite the bullet.

I would think good customer service would be the reasoning to refund. Nonetheless I will try again tomorrow by giving them a call and hopefully speaking to a manager.

All in all I have a good product with a 5 year warranty registered with Samsung so I just won't purchase anything from Curry's in future.

    Thanks for the responses guys

That is why I never buy from Curry's. I buy from John Lewis who price match many retailers. If after purchasing the item you then see it cheaper within 28 days from themselves or certain retailers, they will refund the difference.

I have done this many times with no problems at all.

Moral of this story do not buy from Curry's, customer service is appalling.

    Thanks,

I went to JL to attempt to buy the fridge but they never had the Samsung FF I was after.

Hopefully nothing goes wrong with it so I don't have to contact them.

I will be getting stuff from JL in future though.

    Oh well c'est la vie

Always worth watching currys prices for a while, they discount on a regular basis then price high then it is a waiting game.
Especially for their custom models if you cant find an equivalent.

    Had the Easter sale started?

I think its worth pointing out to Currys that its unreasonable for you to establish that a fridge freezer is not the one you want without testing/using it. So you want to return it, but its unreasonable for them to expect it to be unused.

Then later on, once this fridge freezer is returned, get the lower priced one. Problem is it could be a different price once again.

And under the new rules Curry's can reduce the refund because of use.

Will it work out cheaper ?
