O/S Daily Easter Sunday 27 March 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them x

Happy Birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light here, drying underfoot, cold and very blustery - the latest storm seems to have arrived but forecast is for more wind and storms arriving during tonight/tomorrow morning. Now feeling nowhere near as bad about not going away!

Food yesterday followed my menu, chicken and salad wraps, curly fries, tortilla chips and dips for lunch, and prawns in black bean sauce, egg and veg fried rice, noodles, spare ribs, and dumplings, pancake rolls and prawn toasts for dinner.

Decorating is still ongoing, had a bit of a nightmare yesterday, menfolk were putting second coat of paint on the walls and we ran out of paint, so myself and DH shot off to local big diy store - it was heaving and our paint was out of stock, strangely eough DH's words were as we were going in the car, "wouldn't it be funny if they've run out of our paint?", don't think he found it so funny when we got in the store and they had none, they did check to see if they had any in stock, what a shambles, another family were there and we all stood nearly half an hour whilst the workers went up and down the aisles on the cherry pickers as the stock is stored on the very top of the normal shelves, there was just stacks of all the different paints, supposedly they know where everything is, not by judging how long we all were waiting, the other family were told they had 5 pots of their colour, took them a damn long while to find it, not sure what happened as all they could do for us was offer to order some that should be in store on Monday - no good to us, so we took the same colour but in matt not the silk that we had been using, not ideal but it is only for a bedroom and luckily most of that wall is covered by furniture. Today DH is going to start glossing along with DS1, once skirting boards etc are done, I get to do the door and frame, then it's done. New lampshade already in place, so realistically today should see it finished. DS1's room will be done in the May bank holiday.

Lunch today is going to be roast lamb, roasties, mash, carrots, cauli/broc cheese, peas, yorkshires and gravy and mint sauce.

Have a peaceful Easter Sunday x

Keep safe and well x

    Happy Easter everybody :easter::easter_os:EasterBun

Guess who forgot about the clocks going forward. I thought I woke up just before 6 but when I came down and switched the computer on I was confused to see it was 7am. I don't feel so bad for getting up early now :rotfl::rotfl:.

We are having a nice relaxing weekend as the grand children are with their dad. I look forward to seeing them tomorrow though and to give them their Easter egg. The girls are still in bed so I don't expect to see them much before lunch time as they were all up late last night. I can't do it any more, once I get to 10pm my eyelids are drooping and I need to go and get tucked up in bed.

Looking forward to lunchtime today as we are having roast turkey with all the trimmings. Best bit is I am not cooking it and the girls will be doing the washing up so I can really enjoy the meal :D:D.
The turkey isn't as big as the one I got at Christmas so there won't be too many leftovers. I am hoping to get a curry and a pie out of it though.

Well, hubby has just appeared so I am off to make him a coffee. Hope you all have a wonderful Easter, take care xx

    Happy Easter and good morning.

Yesterday brought really wet and windy weather and of course I cleverly arranged my day to be out in it -and managed to leave my phone at home so instead of a walk before shopping (I need a bit of a walk most days just to feel human and not a sloth) and a car ride back, I had to walk both ways. Unfortunately I have a very sore foot, it has swollen lumps on the sole, so it was more of a limp home. Now I have a cold, earache and headache and I know colds are not caught by getting wet but suspect that has not helped.

Still, here is the OS bit...easter eggs are posh ones bought reduced, we have a leg of lamb which was half price for me to cook tonight and I did get some quite bargainous shopping while out. All savings wiped out by buying two books NOT from the charity shop. I couldn't help it, never can with books which is why I scuttle past bookshops. Except that yesterday I failed to scuttle. I was tempted and I fell. But it was from W H Sm*th so one half price.

I have one more clock to alter, OH can do the one in the bedroom, isn't it amazing that tech devices somehow miraculously intuit that it is clock-changing day.

I have had some very strange dreams lately and they have not been pleasant ones. They usually involve the end of the world or at least a massive change to it, still at least no be of them have come true.

Mrs Lame Wolf, my OH has been underfoot, I mean at home, for 17 years, you do adjust in the end, he is younger and stronger than me so if there is a heavy job to do I can ask him to help. Also I am appalling with heights, so if things involve climbing on ladders or whatever he sometimes does that or at least I know he is there and already alerted to the need to come quick if there is a screech and loud thump.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning all

Dry here at the moment but not forecast to last, yesterday it rained non=stop and the garden is waterlogged now.

The fish have been fed, hubby and I have a cuppa, I'll do breakfast when he gets up.

I'm on the last border of my blanket so I'm trying to decide what to do next.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Same here sistercas, I may abstain from washing today, nothing will dry.

    Morning :hello:

Thank you Lainey and LameWolf xx He doesn't get it and I don't think he ever will because he just wants cuddles and cuteness all the time. I could give loads of examples but it would take me all day to type it all, so I'll skip to the end - Scampi listens to me (unless he spots a cat, then he goes deaf!) and not him, he's miffed about that. But he's caused it himself.
snoozer I'm the same, I sometimes wonder if I'd be happier if I was the only person on the planet :D

Two of my chickens have gone broody, they're squished together in one nesting box :D When they've all put themselves to bed for the night, I go down the garden to lock the shed. These two hear me open the gate and go 'Wait, we haven't eaten!' and come charging out for food and water. I stand there in the dark waiting for them to come back in, lol. I used to lose track of how long they've been broody for so I make a note on the calendar. If they don't start coming out themselves after three weeks, I have to start lifting them outside in the mornings and locking them out.

I have three Easter eggs, I'm going to have a wonderful day :D I'm on my own til about 2pm - hooray! The weather looks OK at the moment so we'll go for a walk then I'll run the hoover round downstairs. The rest of the day will involve crochet and chocolate, we'll go out for another walk later if the storm hasn't arrived by then. I'm not sure if it's going to affect us much here, I'll just look out of the window and see what it's like, lol.

    Happy Easter

It's blowing a Gale here in Yorkshire but sunny and dry. Had a fabulous day yesterday with relatives, drove from here to Chester to pick up aunt and evil cousin then on to Llandudno to meet with good cousin and her oh. Had a lovely Cantonese lunch then visited elderly uncle in care home. I took some old photographs and he remembered most of the people in them.

Evil cousin said some upsetting things as usual, not sure what her problem is but probably won't speak to her again, May have to tell her how I feel which will be interesting!

Hoping to go for a lovely long walk today and enjoy the company of good friends. Take care. Xx

    Morning everyone.

We had high blustery winds all night though this morning the road is dry.

Apart from the rain yesterday we had a great day finished up with a takeaway. I felt really guilty eating it even though I declined the rice and noodles. I has another glass of wine but have to say I didn't enjoy it at all. The after effects of both this morning are not attractive.

My friends are hoping to go for a bike ride this morning so we'll meet later on for lunch.

    No news from Melbourne yet.

    Happy Easter Day!
  • Morning all. I am thinking we must be enjoying our own little micro climate just now! Yesterday we just had one burst of rain and this morning is sunny with not a breath of wind. Forecast is sunshine and showers so will we be lucky enough to avoid the rain again I wonder! Probably not!!

We have been invited up to DS's for lunch today, which was quite a surprise! I think it's only the third time in the 5 years or so they have lived together! So that will be nice and no cooking for me today!

I made a total pig of myself yesterday and opened the Bailey's truffle egg DD got me. Once started I couldn't stop. First all the truffles (yum yum) and then made inroads into the egg, until I started to feel a bit sick!

I haven't heard from DD at the caravan (yet!) so everything must be working ok! (I'll get an SOS when it isn't!!) The custom for Easter Sunday is an easter egg hunt for the children so I hope the rain is holding off there too!

Have a lovely day everyone (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care xxx ps sympathy CAMELOT over the evil cousin. Some people are so miserable they want everyone else to feel the same I think.

    Morning everyone,

Blustery but dry and bright at the moment. The rain was horrendous last night, at one point we had to turn the tv up as couldn't hear it over the din!
Yesterday was lovely but very busy with people for lunch, afternoon tea etc so today is just for me and DOH. We are having a big roast tomorrow when my hollow-legged stepsons are coming over so will doing something relatively simple today, probably roasted med veg with halloumi so not very Easter-ish :rotfl: No matter, have two eggs so chocolate won't be missing from the menu.
AOD hope you feel better soon and have a restful day after yesterday.
Hope everyone has a lovely Easter Sunday, take care xx
