Is there a way to switch my Acer Revo RL85 on and get a start screen with a dual boot option of either Win10 or USB?
I have Openelec on the USB and it works well if I set the BIOS to boot from the USB.
When I want to use Win10 it appears the UEFI kicks in and the next time I boot it forgets about the USB boot and Win10 starts.
I know the above would be easy with a proper keyboard and mouse but the Revo is connected to my TV and I don't have a proper keyboard and mouse for it!
I have tried the normal dual boot option of Win10 and Openelec and I could not get it to work.

This isn't an answer, but have you thought of running one or the other OS in a VM?0

Thanks. I had not thought of that.
I did a quick google and the first post was not very encouraging http://openelec.tv/forum/64-installation/69846-vmware-hatred Although it's a couple of years old the Moderator seems to think it's not going to work.
There seems to be quite a lot of other information about it though and I will work my way through it...I do not know much about VM.
I have a new SSD ready to put into the Revo. I could have Openelec on the SSD and leave Win10 on the other HDD. Could I dual boot that way?0 -

Yes I have seen tutorials on how do it. If I remember you have install Ubuntu first, which I did try, but without much success.
I have always used Openelec solely in my media centers but this one was very cheap (Black Friday deal) and came with Win10 so I would like to use it if possible.0 -
Can you set the BIOS to ALWAYS boot from USB, which then fails over to the hard drive if no bootable media is found? Or is that just not how it works in these days of uefi?0

I don't know anything about openelec, but I do know that you should (if you haven't already) turn off 'Fast Startup' in Windows 10.
Otherwise, when you select 'Shutdown' it won't do a true shutdown; instead it hibernates part of the operating system. Because the BIOS knows it's in hibernation, it often won't let you boot anything else.0 -
Don't know if it helps, but someone asked the same question on the Acer forum here:
