ESA and work?

Thanks for all the replys. So from what I gather, I would lose my carers allowance claim, my partner would still be entitled to ESA as I'm working less than 24 hours a week but they will deduct anything I earn from her claim after the first £20. I used the benefits calculator on a couple of sites and essentially I won't be worse off but I won't necessarily be any better off either. Hopefully CAB can give me an exact figure when I go to my appointment. Once again, thank you to all those who commented.
You would at least be £20 a week better off.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

No chance of you paying into a pension? If you paid £52 into your pension per week, you would still receive carers allowance.0 -
also, as long as any amount of income related ESA is still payable, you would continue to receive maximum housing benefit and council tax support for your circumstances0

I think they would be worse off as they lose the carer premium.
Definitely one for a better off calculation from CAB.
I am also wondering whether they would be better off with the OP claiming Income Support as a carer with wife added to the claim (not sure about this)
Of course we don't know whether the OP wants to start working for financial reasons or for other reasons.0 -

Of course we don't know whether the OP wants to start working for financial reasons or for other reasons.
The OP is looking to get back into work so surely the reasons for wanting to do so are irrelevant. He's not looking to move between benefits. As he is planning to work, the best route is for his partner to continue claiming ESA, particularly if his partner is still entitled to Conts based ESA. If they moved to IS and then the OP increased working hours any link back to ESA for his partner could be lost and a considerable drop in benefit thereby experienced.
I would strongly recommend taking expert advice before making a decision on the best way forward. All any of us here can do it provide opinion based on incomplete information.0
