Digital Thermometer App

Downloaded App to test room temperature.
It is showing over 100F.
Please advise why incorrect.
My daughter's phone shows 75 F.

What phone do you have?
What app have you specifically downloaded?

This may be caused by your phone not having temperature sensors...

Phones don't have ambient temperature sensors at most they can only show their internal temps.
Simply holding the phone for a little while will change the internal temp, not to mention the phone itself generates heat.


You need an external device to check room temp.

My Daughter has a Galaxy S4 phone.

As said above, a phone can possibly show it's own temperature only, not the 'room temperature'. You know well that the phone's temperature depends on on what you are doing with it and, even if you let it alone and not charging, a phone will take time to cool down.

Take it out of your back pocket about 1 hour before you test it perhaps, oh and you didn't say which app you are using. And a KitKat will melt at about 86 degrees , but it is not a phone

Digital thermometer = about £2 on eBay

Any phone app will only show CPU, GPU and battery temp (if any at all).
