The non-techie answer is that nothing can get at you while you're doing it.Torgwen..........

You say after an hour they come back again which would indicate that either you are visiting a website that is installing them again or spyware/adware is still running in the background.
If you do Ctrl-Alt-Del and click on Processes, can you see any process that you don't know what it belongs to/you don't think should be there?0 -
all i am vistng is yahoo, hotmail, msn etc no other websit + this website. I have 60+ processess running which is alot. i think i will scan in safe mode and let u no what happens0

You don't say if you are running with a firewall, if not it is ESSENTIAL you get one, as yet I don't think the XP one is good enough, free ones links available on this site. I also suggest you get Spywareblaster to help preventing them in the first place.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

That is alot! Bet some of them say '-stupidname-toolbar.exe'
Have you got the M$ spyware? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.aspx?na=90&p=&SrcDisplayLang=en&SrcCategoryId=&SrcFamilyId=321cd7a2-6a57-4c57-a8bd-dbf62eda9671&genscs=&u=http%3a%2f%2fdownload.microsoft.com%2fdownload%2f8%2f1%2f5%2f815d2d60-49b5-44dc-ae35-fca2f2c6f0cc%2fMicrosoftAntiSpywareInstall.exe
Update it after install and scan. Its quite good.0 -
Look in your add/remove and see if theres anything installed that shouldnt be and remove what you dont want, also in spybot there is the option to change to advanced mode and change the settings to allow beta versions which i have done and when i run spybot it gets rid of stuff that wouldnt go prior to allowing beta version and then i immunise too.The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

I'm not a techie but I wonder if you need "Shoot the Messenger". There is a prog in Windows called Windows Messenger that can be nabbed by baddies to plague you with pop-ups, and shootthemessenger switches it off, kaput in an instant.
