25 miles on a day like today isn't going to get the oil particularly hot.
nonsense, do the odd motorway run and typically all my trips are less than 10 miles. more like 4mile round trips locally. Dont have any of these cream coloured gunk.
<25 miles a trip is 99% of all motorists. I seriously doubt the internal COMBUSTION engine will take more than 25 miles of driving to heat up its oil.0 -
Unwise but not impossible
Would you care to explain how?
Or are you confusing replacing a "Valve" with replacing a "Valve stem oil seal" I have changed valve stem oil seals without taking the head off on an old Micra.
Edit.
Actually thinking about your comment in context did you mean just not replace the gasket?0 -

This is something that doesn't affect all cars.
And you are being disengnenious as you live in London and a four or five mile trip can take over an hour, which means the engine and therefore the oil gets nice and hot.
If the OP does 3 or 4 mile trips but they are done with less dense traffic the the journeys could be 10 minutes long. And a 3.0v6 will not be under much stress is such a short journey, it will hardly be fully warmed up.0 -

There's a difference between preventing the gunk from forming and getting rid of it once it's formed.<25 miles a trip is 99% of all motorists. I seriously doubt the internal COMBUSTION engine will take more than 25 miles of driving to heat up its oil.
You've never owned anything with an oil temp gauge, have you?0 -
You should be concerned that creamy gunky mayonnaise is not know for its lubricating qualities.
Change the oil and clean that gunk out now and investigate it further.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
