Can I adapt jack plugs in stereo headset to plug in mono phone

I have a stereo headset (1) for my computer which uses two 3.5mm jack plugs. Are there any adaptors which could enable me to plug these into my landline phone (1) which has a 4 contact telephone socket for one of these plugs. Obviously the phone is normally mono so perhaps that presents a problem.
I have another phone (2) which works with a second headset (2) with the same type of 4 contact plug with the same socket. This phone additionally seems to have a 2.5mm jackplug socket as well. Perhaps I could use headset (2) with phone (1) and buy a 3.5 socket to 2.5 jack plug adaptor for headset (1) with phone (2)?.
Perhaps it's simpler to just buy another headset!

I've no idea really, but this web search brings up a few results and pictures that look like they might work:

Assuming it's a regular RJ11 connection something like this might work
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Durable-20CM-RJ11-to-Dual-3-5mm-Headphone-Female-Converter-Adapter-Audio-Cable-/311406714773?hash=item4881495f95:g:P4UAAOSwMmBVrf7I
However, check this first

Presumably the two plugs on your headset (1) are used as follows:
plug 1 - the stereo speakers
plug 2 - the microphone
... or vice versa.0 -

Looking at the video I need a RJ10 4P4C. As he says for either handset (or headset).
I think that RJ11 on ebay has three contacts but four places
Can't seem to find any RJ10 adaptors but it looks the same as this RJ9

Did you check the width of the connector matches RJ10? If so I'm not sure there's any difference between RJ9 and RJ10.
Assuming that the phone is wired for 'regular' headsets, whatever 'regular' means, I've never had much luck interchanging headsets from different phones0
