You certainly could change it on Lloyds without needing the second factor. Has that hole been closed? If so, is that true for all banks?0

No on Lloyds retail customers you cannot change the reference.
This is because often building societies use a general collection account with the reference being used to identify your account number within the society. So changing the reference is not allowed on a pre setup stored payment.
Indeed I pay a someone under two references so have two different payments set up for them.
No idea about Lloyds buisness which I'm told use a dongle rather than the telephone 2nd factor0 -

Lloyds say that it's not allowed, but it certainly used to be possible, if you knew how to do it. It used to depend which screen you started from when you selected the option to make a payment. From one screen it auto-populated the reference for existing payees, but from the other screen it didn't, you just got a blank box to type a reference in. They appear to have closed this loophole now.0 -

I'm sure the TSB has the same system still in place.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0
