Spy motion detector cameras / CCTV?

I know this wont go down well with some members on here & they'll talk about paranoia etc etc etc, but anyway....

I'm not interested in recording other peoples houses/property/the road. I have good enough reason to believe someone or various people are damaging my drive.

Taking days & days off work with a periscope is ridiculous :rotfl:
CCTV is expensive.

So for the time being i'd like just a small motion detector recorder. It doesn't even have to be motion detector to be honest. I could set it to record as i leave for work. Just motion detector would be more helpful i'd have thought.

Anyone used one for similar & can recommend one?

There's quite a range of cameras & prices on eBay. I saw one at £40 which looked promising. I don't want to shell out if it's useless though.

ive got a wifi Foscam camera pointing at the dog so i can check in when I am away.

Check where the ebay camera will record to - You will need to have a recording location - be it a camera with a memory card capability or be able to record to, say, a PC (left switched on) -

Mine records to an SD card and can record on motion detection - the setup shoes a grid and you can select which portions of the grid you want to trigger so you can be very specific.

There is a Foscam APP for iphone and android so I can log on from my phone and watch what is going on live - I cam also log in to it on the lap top and view the video.
I can also use the pan/tilt to move the camera if I want to - although its quite wide angle so I don;t need to.

    I hope this helps.

I would imagine that most cameras will do a reasonable job in good light - mine is very good in night vision mode but I don't think all of them are.
  • Going back to the reason for this - why do you believe your drive is being damaged? What is happening to it?

I would say a decent looking dummy would be the 1st stage if money is an issue, they can look very convincing.

If that doesn't work then maybe the real thing, but the camera prescence is often enough to deter casual none desirables
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

  • Thanks for the replies. I don't think a dummy will put a stop to it to be honest, but i'll take a look in to that one mentioned.

Sorry, i'm not ignoring you but i'm going to have to respectfully choose to not answer that.
No offence to you but based on past experience on this forum there are some people who are very helpful & they read the questions & answer them as best they can. That's why i keep coming back here.

But unfortunately there are also numerous people who seem to go out of their way to just be awkward & go off on irrelevant tangents for no good reason.

So i'm not being rude here but i'd rather not feed these trolls.

What a silly answer. I troll isn't someone who probes with more questions, or writes something you disagree with. With more information, people can provide more useful answers.

For example, if you believe damage may be caused by heavy vehicles reversing on your drive to turn around, installing a gate or fold-down parking barriers would prevent this.

    I suspect I'm a troll now too.

I have a Y cam home monitor which is idiot proof to set up and has cloud recording. I should think it would work well for your purposes and can be used to improve home security after this crisis is dealt with.

    I'll take my chances thanks.

The gates thing is getting looked in to. First things first i'd like to know WHO is doing it.

Had i replied with "oh this is happening to it...."

no doubt there would be people coming in saying i'm complaining over nothing & i should get on with life. Trust me, i've seen it written on this forum time & time again - these people saying you shouldn't ever complain about anything & you should let people get away with murder.
It doesn't matter what is happening with the drive tbh. What i'm asking is about recording it.
You'll probably think i'm being rude now. I'm not, but there you go.

I'm sorry but by that reply you just HAVE fed the trolls.

Yeah well, you can't win i guess.

Don't respond & people get upset you're ignoring them.

Respond & the trolls come in to pick apart what you just said.
