Very basic credit card questions!!

Hi all

1) If i get a credit card, use the 'introductory offer' by spending the introductory points on gifts to treat myself and then cancel the card, will this show on my credit history, and in turn, cause problems in the future??

2) If i don;t use my card, at all, how long until they cancel my account?

1. if you use your card for purchases and pay at least the minimum monthly payment on time this will show on your credit report in a positive light (i.e. improve your credit rating).

whether or not you spend the 'points' (whatever they are) will not be recorded on your credit report

if you close the card that will be reported... whether thats good or bad or neutral depends upon how many other cards you have.

2. impossible to say..depends upon the card and on the ever changing policy.

Well I've had 1 card a year, this card for 2 months, and would like the M&S Card to transfer a balance. I've got a perfect history.

By closing the card i've only had 2 months, having paid in full, on time, for the short druation, will this lower my chances in being accepted elsewhere?
