Kobo e-book downloads from library

Recently purchased a Kobo Glo HD e-reader...and what a faff!!

Chose this model as kindles can't be used in libraries, having said that the choice in libraries is abysmal. I assumed it could all be done on wifi straight to the e-reader, but no you need a PC or laptop. So ok, now you need a program called Adobe Digital editions in order to be get your downloaded book from the laptop to your e-reader. At the moment I'm stuck as the A D E program won't authorise me as its dialog box doesn't like my answers to: Ebook vendor, Adobe ID and password. Don't know where I'm going wrong, I've put the vendor that the library uses (I think).

Wandering if I can send it back..:o far too much work to justify its use.

Did you have any software come with the reader? I bought the Sony e-reader when it first came out several years ago and it came with a DVD containing Sony Reader for PC, which is an interface between the e-reader/PC/library. Our library has a brilliant range of books for download. The download does not require anything as, once you have selected your book (in the correct format), clicked on BORROW and checked it out, it will download to your PC to your preferred location. Then, having set up your interface programme of choice, just double click the file to load it into the interface and then sync to put it on the reader. When format does the Kobo require? Are you looking at that format in the library?

May be wrong here, but I thought once you'd purchased a book online from kobobooks.com, you just connect your kobo to your wifi & sync and it downloads to your device, presuming your kobo has been registered to your account? I think Adobe digital editions is just to read the book on your PC with?

Ask Koboon line. I had a similar problem, can't remember exactly what I had to do, something like delete the books and reinstall them from the Kobo.

The op is using the "local" library , you can't download in the library but from the County(or local library authority) web site. They use ADE for DRM management , you need to sign up for an adobe id , then download it using ADE to your pc then copy it to the reader.

You have to authorise it with either an Adobe ID or your Overdrive (library) account details.
