Why are is my Noddle credit score different to my Equifax score?

HI

I have just signed up to Equifax for the 30 free trial, as my Noddle report was saying that I have a very bad credit score - in between poor and fair, and I couldn't really work out why as I have always paid my bills, credit cards, loans on time, etc, etc.

However, I was very surprised with the score Equifax gave me - an excellent, above average score!

I do not understand why two different companies can produce completely different credit scores for the same person??!!

Anyone have any ideas, or I am not understanding things??

Neither score has any meaning so can both be ignored.
  • You'd need to go through them both side by side, the searches may be different as depends who did the search if they only check against one of the three, but the things you'd need to check are :- Open and closed credit accounts, eg phone, bank etc. Do you have the same on both, if you've missed payments do they show the same on both? Do you have all the same addresses on both, and if they show you on the electoral role or not. Are there any ccj's or payday loans are they showing on both.

If everything looks the same, then it is fine. The actual credit score number doesn't actually mean anything, it is just a number made up by each company for a guess of what they think how likely you are to get credit, it is just their opinion though, it doesn't even get shown to someone when you do a search. When people check your record, they will have their own internal processes to compare all the above to, to decide if they like you or not. Not just noodle says good or not. Especially if you're looking for another product for a company you're already with, they will see what your record with them has been like.

So you just need to keep an eye on all three credit score companies to check the info is right and matches but that's all you can do really.

On your Noddle report. Go into your 'credit report' and click on 'financial account information' and check the status of all your accounts. They should all say 'Up To Date' and if you expand the entry by clicking on the '+' symbol there should be a green dot and the word 'OK'. You might be able to work out why Noddle is giving you a low score. Although as others have said, You are the only person to see your score. Credit Reference agencies only disclose your credit history to lenders. .
  • Noddle use a different scoring system to other CRA's.
Whilst Experian etc give you a score out a 1000,
Noddle score you out of 700 I think.
