Would you change car?

I have a Nissan Qashqai, Petrol 1.6, 62 plate first registered in Jan13. 45k miles

Having put it through its first MOT in Jan this year I'm thinking it may be a good time to change before more ££ need spent each year.

I have 4k left on a loan for it. I pay £150 per month and have 2.5 years left on it.

I could keep it until the loans paid off, then sell and get another 8k loan + whatever I get for it and start again - or I could change now.

What do you think I could get for it now? (its in good condition, FSH, reversing Cam, Sat nav).

Its a comfy car but hardly the most exciting drive and has the acceleration of a shopping trolley, so I'm thinking I could get something a bit more exciting without greatly increasing my monthly outgoing!

What would you do?!

What sort of car do you want?

Something fast like an M3? Something more comfortable like a E Class?

Unless you have abused your current car why would it cost you money to get through an MOT every year?

I haven't had a car fail an MOT in years.

So far as I'm concerned, a 62-plate with only 45K miles is nearly new.

What would I do? I'd keep it for at least another 6 years or 60K miles until it's actually getting old, then decide what to do.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I'm the opposite, I plan on getting shot just before warranty is up. Partly because I like knowing what I'm paying each month, and partly I get bored after a couple of years. I drive the b*llocks off cars, so I'd rather the next owner pick up the tab for my enjoyment. Not fussed about the 'wasted' money in depreciation, my matched betting pays for it each month.

My car is 12 years old, it's barely needed any money into it bar new tyres every 12 months, doing 18k miles a year. Last year was the first time it's ever failed an MOT and it failed for something I knew was getting borderline (the drop links for the anti-roll bar).

Where does this BS come from? this idea that cars start costing lots of money when they're over 3 years old?

And my other car? That's now 22 years old...........

This is me apart from from the matched betting bit, I budget an amount I am happy to pay each month and enjoy the car.

If I particularly didn't like the car and there was something else suitable for a reasonable price I'd change it but not purely to save money on repair bills as the increased depreciation is going to be more expensive unless it's a real lemon of a car.

Yes. Spend £8k on another car to avoid potentially paying a few hundred quid in repairs at the next mot.
