Just need some advice please.
On Monday, I am taking someone to Stanstead Airport. I have told her to go through security quickly and get airside, due to these bombers, we just don't know.
So, I will be dropping off only and I read that it costs £2.50 for 10 minutes at drop off. How does this work, do you go through a barrier and pay on exit or is it a ticket machine ?
The airport web site does not make this clear,
Thanks in advance

is there any park and ride or free drop off facilities further out? Most airports have some sort of free drop off a bit further out with a shuttle bus that runs every 10 mins or so.
As said, if you get a clear drop off run it'll be free, but any traffic and it gets expensive fast.0 -
£2.50 for 10 mins , then £2.50 PER min after http://www.stanstedairport.com/parking/pick-up-and-drop-off/
umm
New Tariffs (with effect from 1st April 2016)- Minimum charge £3.00 for 10 minutes
- No Stay length beyond 10 mins - subject to a £50 charge/towing

That's what I saw but how to pay is not shown0 -
The last time I was at Stansted the following procedure was in operation.
At the entrance to the drop off/pick up zone you need to stop at a barrier.
A camera at knee height captures your reg. no. ( I cannot remember if the machine then issues a ticket with your reg. no.) but the barrier then raises.
At the exit barrier (you insert the ticket into) a machine recognises the no. , calculates the duration of your "stay", displays the tariff on a screen, and you pay the appropriate amount to raise the barrier.(no change given ?)
Other recent threads say the charge is now £2.50 for the first 10 mins then £2.50 per minute thereafter !
post #4 above gives up to date prices
Alternatively, do not branch off in to the entrance, stay on the road and stop on the roadside immediately beyond the entrance. It is an extra 30 yard walk for the passenger and is free if you are not "caught" but it is not a satisfactory manner to see off a loved one !0 -

payment by debit/credit card , however as you cannot now overstay the 10 mins (towing) the max payable is £3.

why not use the free 1hour parking in the midstay car park and use the shuttle bus to the terminal, you could then go with them.
cant the 4 year old walk?
