Ok so I've received some good news. Each previously proposed completion date has been fine with my buyer but the solicitors haven't been able to get it together quick enough and haven't had the decency to ring and say so.

My buyer is 100% behind my next proposed completion date and it's all on the solicitors to get the contracts exchanged in time.

    Sounds good.

But without wanting to sound too cynical - Who told you that?

It's very easy for a dodgy buyer to say... "I'm 100% committed, it's all the solicitor's fault..."

... when they really mean... "I'm still trying to scrape together the cash, and I'm still going to see if I can find a tenant before exchange. So I'm not lettng the solicitors proceed."

Dodgy buyers/sellers always claim that everything is their solicitor's fault!

(I recall dealing with a seller that blamed their solicitor for every conceivable problem. In the end, it became a standing joke between me and the EA - whatever the problem, it's the solicitor's fault.)
