Hi Everyone
My dad has kindly given me lots of frozen stewed fruit not sure what it all is (had a strawberry mix crumble with one lot the other day!) I have about 7 lots also I have frozen whole raspberries and blackberries plus I picked some blackberries yesterday and have some windfall apples to cook in with them.
I usually just make crumble for the family as everyone likes it and it is fairly easy but wondered if you had any other ideas or recipes as I anticipate more blackberries and apples if I carry on picking them!! My freezer is full so want to start being organised with what I have.
Thank you all in advance for you top tips and ideas!!

Hi,
I'm exactly the same. Ive lost count of the amount of blackberries in my freezer, courtesy of a neighbours very large bush that grows over into my garden. i must admit im a bit sick of blackberry and apple crumble(5 weeks running but its OH favourite after Sunday Lunch). I also make apple and blackberry tart, basically the same filling but encased in sweet pastry with a lattice top, it last for ages and i slice it up and take it work. Also have tried a cobbler which is like a crumble but with a scone topping baked on top. Last year I made a apple and blackberry traybake(From Good Food website) any why not try muffins as these could be frozen and taken out when needed. I think i'm gonig to try muffins because I like the thought of having a freezer full of HM cakes. It will save me a fortune on shopping.
I was thinking of trying Jam as theres a recipe on Delias but i must admit Jam making always scared me(have no idea why), or put some in a bottle of Vodka and by chritsmas you have lovely blackberry vodka for presents.March 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000 -

I like stewed fruit just plan with yog, cream or ice cream. Serve in glasses with thin, crisp, plain biscuits (langue au chat, tuile) for dinner parties.
Eton mess? (Trad: Meringue and whipped cream and raspberries but I like to substitute any berries and sometimes put flaked almonds on top too.)
Add blackberries to sponge cake batter (add less liquid to batter though, or you will get soggy cake!)
I'm sure there are cake recipes substituting apple sauce for butter.0 -

sorbet!
Serve with greek yogurt, or use to make sauces for savoury dishes
Jam's easy peasy ~ just don't let it overcook like me
I second the vodka idea

Jam !
I tried it for the first time over the summer and it was so easy (blackcurrant with a bit of raspberry and blackberry thrown in as well). The flavour is amazing compared to shop bought and it lasts so much longer. I have a half open jar I made which is perfect unyet a jar I bought and opened after the HM is covered in mould! Speaks for itself I thinkMortgage, paid off!0 -

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for suggesting this as it used up windfall apples (free!) and blackberries and was easy to make and super tasty!!!
I think it might not be so good for weight loss but you can't have everything in life can you!!
