Parking Eye, Crown Wharf, Walsall

Hi everyone :)

I'm just reading through the NEWBIES!!! thread and the various complaints against Parking Eye for this particular car park and thought I'd share what has happened to see if you think this will be an issue. I'm preparing for war.

A new cinema called The Light has opened on the Wharf. I heard about it via word of mouth and looked it up. Noticed their deal that if you booked a showing online before opening day (March 21st) all adult tickets were £5. Quids in!

I book tickets a few weeks early. 10 days before the showing (this Saturday) circumstances change and I "may" need to change the booking. Look on the Light's website and there is a contact us form for enquiries. I email them, but still to this day never get a response.

It's now 24th March, Cinema is opened for business... Saturday is quickly approaching - Can I change my booking? I look for the telephone number on their website and there isn't one. (Grrrr I hate that!) so I check the FAQ page and they state you can change the booking, but you must visit the venue.

That's fine - I drive to the Wharf carpark, I do see it's Pay & Display so I pull up near the machine to check prices. 1 hour = £1... but I'm not needing an hour. Is first 30 mins free? Or up to 10 mins free??? Some car parks do this - so I kind of chance it and think to ask the staff @ the Light.

Get in, enquire about changing my booking but it can't be changed. No biggy.
I ask if parking is free for first 10 minutes or 30 minutes and the staff member doesn't know. So I leave.
As I leave the car park I notice the camera's so I check online and find the multitude of threads here. So it's likely I'll get "invoiced".

I'm returning Saturday to use the car park. I figure if I pay for 4 hours, this will adequately cover my visit to the venue + my 3 minutes whilst I enquired.

I'm hoping the light can help cancel any charges. Since really they should reply to emails and provide a telephone number - plus the fact I'm returning to pay more than necessary.

Do you think this kind of situation will be easy to resolve? Without having to pay £50 for 3 minutes?

I won't know for certain but it's less than10 minutes if you include the reading the prices, parking and walking.

was it less than 10 mins from ENTERING the car park and first being seen on camera to passing the camera on the way out

we are talking time on site , NOT time parked

also , as you know the area (we don,t) have you looked on google street view at the signage , or gone to the owners website to check?

Not much - my initial searches all came here. And it was nice to see so much support.

I'm feeling confident that my visit on Saturday to the car park will grant some kind of "forgiveness".
But also hoping The Light can help too - they should really help with easier ways of communication, in my opinion.

I guess I'll wait and see if they "invoice me" and have a look at the time stampings. Thanks.

1: parking eye do NOT do "forgiveness"

2: unless the Light actually own the car park , they can do nothing , apart from see a reduction in the number of customers due to PE

you will get a love letter thru the post within 14 days of the incident ,

at that point you will go to the newbies thread , read, digest ands send a letter (or email) back to them using the template.

you will then be !!!!ed off and not use that cinema again ,
