Extension - Help?

Hi all! Second post of the night (again about the neighbours)...
They are proposing to build a single storey extension however looking at the plans it would run right up to the 'shared' fence which separates our land from theirs. Is this allowed?
My concerns are...
1) the space between our home and theirs if the extension is built. Is there a minimum legal space between 2 detached houses?
2) the light being restricted from entering our hall window at the side the our house which the extension is being built at. Is this any 'right of light' law to back this up?
3) the height of the proposed new roof cutting off the small sun trap we have at the bottom of our garden (where we have built a deck to capitalise on this). Again any 'right of light' law to back this up?
Any help would be very much appreciated!
