Could be life cover (Bright Grey is part of Royal London) you can claim against if you've died.
Or could be Critical Illness cover you can claim against if you've had a heart attack for example.
Or could be Income Protection you can claim against if you're off work due to ill health.
Or it could by any combination of the above.

    Its not PPI.
  • So I can't claim it back then, it was just called mortgage protection insurance, I think it was for illness, but I know the company I worked for then offered 6 months full pay when off sick, does this not make it mis sold, thanks

It would not be missold if set up properly ie with a 6 month deferred period before it paid out an income if you were off work through ill-health . Unlike PPI it wouldn't just pay for a year but potentially until the end of your mortgage or even retirement you really need to look at what the policy actually provided and understand it before trying to think of reasons to "claim it back" otherwise you are just going to come across as a chancer when you put in a complaint to whoever sold it to you.

Here is a link to the policy Key Features, though you need to look a your own policy schedule to see the benefits you had. http://www.lifequote.co.uk/cdrom/KFDocsProps/MPOptions/MortgageProtection/bge%20MP%20kfd.pdf
  • Ok thank you for the info, I'll have a look at the policy properly

Bright grey is a life assurance company (now branded under the parent company name). It is not MPPI. They dont offer MPPI (and your complaint reasons wouldnt be applicable to MPPI either).

And what happens when the 6 months runs out? If it is the income protection segment of the BG policy then that is what takes over.
