...We would like to make headway towards that objective though and are considering the potential of starting a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee to act as the 'body' for fundraising- this would reduce the fees taken by companies (PayPal from ~4.5% down to 1.5%, etc) and possibly open up potential funding from trusts.....

No, actually want you want to do is to start a charity. There are four ways of establishing a charity, of which setting up a charitable company limited by guarantee is one of the most straightforward.

I say that what you want to do is to start a charity, on the assumption what you want to is to raise money to fund medical treatment. And not start a business whose profit is dedicated to some social purpose i.e. a not for profit organisation of some kind CIC or whatever.

The treatment in Russia has been going on for over ten years now. It's probably the most well-tested site for this treatment in the world.

I don't doubt it and really hope it works for you. I just thought it might be a bit early to start fundraising for others before seeing your own results.

    Good luck anyway.

    & non profit organisations

Discounted transaction fees for registered charities

What documents do I need to confirm I’m a registered charity?
To confirm registered charity status you will need proof of identity for the account holder and registration documents for the charity eg. Companies House or the Charity Commission.

I spoke to Paypal a few days ago to ask questions, they do non profit organisations at the lower rate and yes we need to prove documentation, that being the reason about asking about non profit organisation
