    Realistically, if it's a standard-size tank, then 1 bath, 1 shower and 1 wash up is all you're going to get before you run out of hot water. Since the main element only comes on overnight, that's all you get in one day.

    The boost will only heat the top of the tank, so it's good for another lot of washing up, maybe a shower, but it won't do a bath-full.
    If it sticks, force it.
    If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
