Hi
I'm looking to get my first home contents only insurance for a rented flat in Leeds LS1.
The problem is I have a previous conviction for something other than a motoring offence, which seems to exclude me from most of the companies I've looked at.
Anyone have any suggestions please of companies that would take me on. I'm only looking for minimal cover really.
Thanks

The first thing to check is whether the conviction is 'spent' - if it is then you can legitimately not disclose it.
If you don't mind me asking, what was the date of the conviction and what was the sentence?0 -
The conviction was in 2005 so I think it takes 5 years to be spent.
It was a summary only offence (I think) for non-payment of train fare. Stupid thing to do but I'll have to live with it for another couple of years.
There must be some places out there that don't ask you to disclose this stuff0 -
sorted it thanks. The AA phoned me after I tried a quite with them and they were able to help with a very competitive offer0
