Defaults question

Hi
I thought I had posted it already, but doesn't ;look like it worked.
I have a default on my credit file and it says the date of the default is 30/4/10.
This will be 6 years old in the next few weeks, not I don't expect it to disappear dead on 30/4/16 but I was wanting to know if they are automatically removed? The money is still showing as owed and I wasn't even aware of it at all and hasn't shown on the file until I updated my addresses on the experian one and dragged it through.
I'm just a little unsure what to do at this point.
Thanks
