DLA mobility & CHC funding in a res Home

Options
Hi , my son was awarded CHC funding some time ago, he lives in a residential/nursing home. I always thought that he kept the mobility component of DLA however I have just had a general letter from DLA which said that you were not automatically entitled to the mobility component.
I always thought you kept this and therefore did not inform the DLA. I am worried now that I will be in trouble. Can anyone tell me if this has recently changed?
Thank you

You keep it of you live at home. Not of you in residential care

My late DH kept the Mobility component of his DLA when he was in a Care Home, but that might have been because he was paying all his SRP and half his private pension, towards the costs.

I'm assuming CHC funding means all of your son's care is paid for, and perhaps that's why it has ceased.

Hi, thank you for your responses. I am waiting a DLA decision on the mobility component. I have been told that if the resident still goes out into the community then you keep the DLA, however this is taken on an individual basis.

I have known people keep their DLA mobility when in a care home, several in fact. They were relatively active young people who were attending work experience/courses. They weren't self funding.
