Kitty Cat insurance

Options
Hi folks,

It has been a while posting here so please bear with me.

I have three rescue cats, the eldest two around two yrs old and the third around ten months.

Wanting to get pet insurance for them all. I already know the youngst is going to cost me as we have already had one trip to the vets when I first got her due to a stuck fur ball.

The second had kitten flu as a baba before I got her and the vet has said that she will need dental work in time.

The first is as fit as a fiddle and I doubt I'm going to have too many issues with her. (Touch wood).

I have been narrowing down the insurance options and am torn between pet plan and John Lewis. I'm even tempted to get the pet plan covered for life 4000 policy for each of them purely for dental care then take out the 12000 policy for reach of them with John Lewis.

Whilst my vets are amazing it does erk me somewhat that policies are capped at 12000 and not 20000. I know 12000 cover seems like a lot but I have seen first hand with family friends insurance reaching limit and the remainder having to be paid out and my mum having sky high bills when one of her dogs was in an accident and not insured.

Would love some advice on this.

But you will still only have £12000 cover as Petplan say they won't pay out for any condition that you have cover for with another insurance.

So you would be as well with one policy with Petplan.

As your vet has already advised that the cat will need teeth removed in future Petplan may well consider that a pre existing condition and not cover it. Your vet has to submit a full medical history with any claim.

I'd check with your vet to see if the dental work was logged down or just mrntioned to you in passing. My vet gave me a print out for my 14 month old dog in feb when I changed insurer.

Pet plan gave me 12 month exclusions from date of last treatment for the two things my dog had treatment for. After that period she will be covered for them. It didn't affect my premium either. I went for the lifetime cover which refreshes each year.

I don't know if it's different for cats but it's worth a phone call. No experience with john lewis.

Pls check the legalities of taking on 2 policies as I doubt it works in the way you think it does xx
