DRP Response - Now What?

Ok so now I have ignored all the DRP letters taking the advice of my fellow members and today I get a letter from a company called SCS saying if I do not pay within the next 14days they will be taking me to court. It says its a letter before a claim for the purpose of the practise direction on pre-action conduct.....no idea what that means.Coupon-mad wrote: »No you only 'have' to pay if they take you to court and win and the judgment then tells you to pay. UKPC mostly choose multi ticket cases where the stakes are higher - even then, the claims are not the most professional and are certainly defendable.
The typical amount a person might 'have to' pay for one PCN from a firm other than ParkingEye, if they lost at a court hearing, would be around £120 - £170. Unless you are unreasonable (and defending a claim would not be unreasonable) no legal fees are allowed to be added and the £160 being demanded right now includes 'debt collector' costs that were not part of the 'contract' so should not have been added/could be objected to in a defence.
Basically, in the unlikely event of losing in court, you would be no worse off than the same sort of sum being pursued now because the amount would be very similar.
The difference now is, you would be a total mug if you fold and pay DRP! Almost everyone who is a long-term poster here, has had these letters in the past; I have my own collection fully ignored and they fizzled out after a year.
Google each letter, pick out a phrase and you'll find the letter discussed thousands of times.
NO UPDATES OF EACH LETTER, PRETTY PLEASE!
Now what do I do?? getting slightly worried now....0 -
SCS are DRP if it says pay DRP, yet more begging.0

Sending letters pretending to be from a solicitor is part of the debt collection routine. Does it say that they have been instructed to take court action, or does it merely say that they "may recommend" court action or some such weasel words? And who does it say to pay? If it says to pay DRP, it's just more toilet paper.0

Where did you park in the first place? Who's car park was it?From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"0 -

it says pay UKPC, so yeah im guessing its more rubbish.0 -
Can you post the redacted contents? It's probably worth a complaint to the SRA because it'll breach all kinds of guidelines.0

Easiest way is to take a picture of it, with the identifying details obscured, and upload it to a picture sharing site such as Tinypic. Then you can post a link here, but you'll need to munge it because you don't have enough posts to be allowed to post links. Most people change the "http" at the front to "hxxp". We can then easily fix it and re-post it for you.0
