Our son's shoes are velcro-close and, as someone else said, they do get clogged with fluff from carpets and clothing. I just sit down with a needle or unbent paperclip and a lot of patience, and fish the fluff out.

Get yourself a dolls hairbrush similar to these:

Takes seconds to brush the fluff out of velcro on shoes. I've got a dolly hairbrush in my shoe polish box just for cleaning out velcro :D
Here I go again on my own....

Yes - If you couldn't tie your laces, as well as the above "containment" you could expect to be given a pair of shoe boxes with holes cut in the lid to put on your feet to clomp around in until you learned to tie for yourself.

Of course if you damaged the boxes, which was pretty easy you could expect a whole other layer of punishment.

I bet this school was approved , wasn't it...
That's not a normal way to treat children, you are joking , right?
  • Thank you all for the (mostly) helpful advice. I have typed out a letter which I will send recorded tomorrow.

Hope you get a satisfactory outcome. It probably would not be worth the time and effort for you to take it to court for £41, but for the cost of postage it is worth a letter before action, as that will often get them to deal with the issue, especially as it is a small amount to them (compared to staff costs going to court to defend the claim and travel cost). Please let us know the outcome.

Don't send recorded as they have the option not to sign for it so it does not get delivered. End 2 copies from different post offices and get proof of posting for each one. These are then deemed delivered after 2 days I believe.
