My student finance and my queries! Need advice

Options
Ok so i logged onto the government student finance website to check everything with my first year student loans coming up.

So I went onto the VIEW PAYMENTS section and it gives you a list of the 3 different schedule of payments coming up
- Tuition Fee Loan
- Supplementary Grant
- Student Support loan

In the status section it says 'blocked 'for all of them apart from the supplementary grant payments which it says 'approved'. Im so confused as I have had everything approved.

Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated!

  • Hmm.... Have you returned the form that came with the approval? Might be taking a bit of time at their end to do the admin - I only got my loan approval through from them last week, so still waiting for the payment schedules to be set!
**"Cheer up, it could get worse" - I cheered up, and look, it got worse!**
  • I've just tried logging on their sit to check my son's status and change his mobile number but it says the site in unavailable! I'm also trying to find what date the maintenance money goes in without luck so far. Anyone know?

    Hi Cuzzy

    Yeah, mines the same.

I rang up and explained yesterday, What you need to do is when you get a payment schedule letter, you need to take it to your Uni (along with the financial notification you should have received from your first letter) for them to confirm your details and stuff and then they will ring up the student loans to say that you've been in to see them and then 3 days later you should receive your first payment.

    Good luck

    Cheers Tony,

So does that mean we get all that money then once we get our uni to phone the loan people then that will be cleared to our account.

How come the supplementary grant is approved already then?

    Hey Cuzzy

As soon as the Uni rings them you should get some money in 3 days from that call.

It will be in 3 installments so you should get £1668.45 for your first payment. Then the second on 7th Jan 2008.

Not sure why the grant says approved already but i just checked my account online and it says everything is approved now.

    Hope everything goes well.

  • Also, If your getting the full loan and grant amount from the LA you should also be eligable for a bursary and somethig called the 'Access to learning fund' so remember to ask your Uni about that.
