hello all,

i left Scottish Power because of the erratic payments.i am now with SSE as they are better if you live in a flat.
i pay weekly only haven't for a couple weeks!! I'm not home much, away about 12hrs a day x3 a week.
latest SSE bill jumped to £184 now this is s.o. who's never home. As this is starting again there must be something about electricity charges i am not understanding!

to me quarterly means nothing because i pay weekly. Why do extra charges appear on top of your weekly payments? i don't get it?
i thought i was on top of this but obviously not!!!

please advise? thank you so much!

Why / how do you pay weekly ? Is it a pre pay meter ? If so then there are daily charges that applied whether you use anything or not.

If it is proper billed is it from accurate actual meter reads or estimates ?

You must be on a prepayment meter or have some deal with a landlord to be paying for energy like you do. Prepayment meters can have a whole lot of debt repayment added to them as well as the daily standing charges which baffle prepay uses. You can check the prepay meters debt screens on S and T for electric and 26 /27 for gas ( with key/card inserted )

    Hello kimla10 :)

    All sorted?

If not, please do pop back when you have more time so that people can try to assist you. I see you left immediately you posted the above. :(

To quote you from an earlier post, this "makes no flippin sense!" , sorry.

As I understand it, you elected to switch from Scottish Power to Ebico (supplied by SSE) about a year ago, although you may not have actually switched until about 6 months ago.

Anyway, if you are still with Ebico, they do not apply any standing charges to any of their tariffs (but as you knew, are quite expensive in terms of unit rates as a result)

So however you are paying for your energy, if it is supplied by Ebico you should only be being charged the number of units consumed multiplied by their unit rate - it's as simple as that. There should be no other charges or discounts applied.

(Only other possible 'charge' may be if you have a prepayment meter and you they are recovering a past debt applied to that meter - but you've not mentioned this here and I'm sure you would be aware if this applied to you)
