Utilitywise query

Options
I've been approached by Utilitywise to search and set up energy accounts for the community centre that I am treasurer for. Has anyone used these? If so, do they charge? And are they worthwhile? I'm quite happy to find the best deal myself but they seem quite insistent.

You don't need a broker - who will charge you.

And avoid the Business/Commercial Comparison Sites - my experience is they are just like double glazing companies.

Just get your annual consumption figures together and ring around the suppliers.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • I work with a charity that runs a local center, one of these salesmen manged to convince one of the members to sign up, deal seemed good at the time however 2 weeks after the time for their chosen supplier to take over the meter they advised that this had not occurred and we were incurring out of contact rates but good luck they had managed to get these fees waived all we had to do was agreed to go with the existing supplier, About 2 minutes of research showed it was a impressively expensive rate. About 5 minutes latter I had a better rate and fees waived however was still locked in to a gas contact with them. They informed me that despite having a "locked in price" Total Gas and power were unable to supply due to higher than expected transmission cost. They were unable to define what they meant by "locked in" price. Their chosen supplier total gas and power would not talk to me as they believe the agreement was with utilitywise. Utilitywise accept no fault as they assure me that they only arrange agreements and the problem is between Total Gas and Power and us. Eventually I got them to assure me they have raised a complaint with Total Gas and Power but are unable to release any correspondence as it is between an "internal" contact. The complaint procedure states 10 days response, I starting chasing this process after 2 weeks, to date received a email stating it was not their fault, no explanation of what occurred just that it was not their fault.
