ipad locked?

Hi Guys, need a bit of help unlocking my ipad please.
Did an update this morning, and at the end it asked for Apple ID and Password. It also said the ipad is linked to my e-mail address,AOL,please use original set up ID which is Gmail. ?
I am using the original one , but it says this one cannot unlock ipad?
after dozens of attempts, and logging into apple Password reset, still no joy.
Completely stumped.
Apple confirm the Gmail one and Password on their site,Using my pc,
When I try my aol address to login on their site , it says this is not an apple ID.?
Any help would be appreciated.

This sounds like the Icloud lock, did you buy it new or second hand?

You could always ask the FBI, they reckon they know how to do it now :rotfl:

Hi guys, phoned Apple, very very helpful, 3 long free calls, but sorted now.
Apple ID verification problem from the outset when
I bought it new 2 years ago.
iD not linked to iPad?..:beer:

Didn't keep me on phone,they phoned me back, free..
only problem with product is reading Serial Number on the back, impossible without a magnifying glass.

FBI should phone CS in Gateshead, they will unlock it for them.:rotfl:
