Used car broker in the style of drivethedeal?

    I used Carwow to get prices for a new car that I was interested in. I was then able to use that price to negotiate a better price with my local dealer.



    My local Toyota dealership wouldn't budge despite Drivethedeal being a full 4k off the RRP price for the same new car. The lead time was the same as well. No prizes for guessing where I went

    And no guessing who made £4K more when they sold the car.

    Not every dealer is able to discount cars by as much as Drive the Deal.

    The great thing about DtD is that they have nationwide access to dealerships, though sometimes the DtD prices are misleading so that if you check the small print you need to take out a specific finance deal.

    Large fleets never pay full retail, I always thought hat was how brokers like DtD got these discounts, they have significant buying power and therefore are able to get fleet prices.

    But not every manufacturer uses them, you could buy Land Rover/Range Rover products from them for a while and now you can't.

    You used to be able to buy a Nissan Leaf or Renault Zoe and sometimes you can't.

    IMHO dealer make more from maintenance and warranty repairs anyway.

    On a lot of new cars their margins will be waifer then, yes.

    Its also worth noting that not every dealer wants to win every sale no matter what the price. If they're confident they can otherwise sell a particular car, why give it away?

    True.

    Some dealers want to cultivate a relationship with a customer. Others aren't bothered.

    It also depends on local demand.

    London Toyota dealers can sell as many Prius as they can get their hands on at the moment. A Toyota dealer in Norwich might not have the same demand. If they had to stock certain cars would the dealer in Norwich be more inclined to do a better deal on a Prius? Just a thought.
