Can my husband sell my car without me there?
Options
Hi all, this is my first post here.
Just looking for some advice, I'm currently 25 weeks pregnant and struggling to leave the house due to a pelvic condition limiting my mobility (just pregnancy related not pre existing).
I currently have a very nice car that has finance outstanding. Due to me not being able to work for weeks and wanting to cut our household expenses while I'm on maternity leave I'm looking to exchange it at a dealership and buy a car with the outstanding equity, about £8,000 based on part ex valuation.
However, as I'm limited in being able to leave the house can my husband take the car, choose the new one and deal with finance settlement?
I'm happy for him to pick my new car without me test driving and sign any documents etc for him.
Thanks

The dealership won't have an issue with him buying/selling on your behalf - I've bought and sold cars in my wife's name a number of times.
If you are just paying off existing finance and not taking out a new loan then that should also be OK - but if not, is there any reason he can't bring the paperwork home for you to sign ?0 -
Yes there's no problem with me signing any documents at home for him.
Will I need to write him a letter of consent or anything? I unusually am very independent so struggling slightly having to rely on him so much.
I definitely won't be taking out another car finance loan, I just need a car that'll be reliable and safe and I think I should be able to get a decent, low mileage family car with the £8,000 budget.0
