removing links from favorites list

mates naffed his computer up so i said i'd sort it for him. ran adware and spybot and anti virus scan but can't remove xxx links in fav list. keep deleting them but they keep coming back. any ideas?

    have you run them while the PC is in safe mode....and the name of the offending Spyware you were cleaning may help us help you

    It sounds like there is still some sort of malware on their which is putting the shortcuts back.

    Try doing the scans in safe mode.

    If they keep coming back then to me it sounds as though these adware/spyware programmes may still be running and therefore they are putting back themselves.

    Do Ctrl-Alt-Del and look in the list of Processes for anything that you think shouldn't be there, or alternatively, download and run HiJackThis which will list all your processes, all programs that startup during booting, etc.

    UPDATE: Sorry Blinky, we most of posted around the same time.

    thanx guys. ran spybot and adware in safe mode. found more spyware, removed and now links have gone. never thought about running in safe mode. will do this on my computer next just to check.
